This interesting item is a clasp that was made popular in the 1980s for making strands of seed beads into a "regular" necklace. If you start with several strands of seed beads, and grab the ends of the necklace strands with your fingers. The, using wrist motion, twist the strands together. Slip the clasp through one end, put around your neck and clasp the other end. It could also be used by itself on a chain as a pendant. Very beautiful, used either way!
