CORO Double Queens Crown RARE Chatelaine Brooch Ruby Navette Rhinestones Vintage
This gorgeous piece has a large crown brooch and a smaller crown, with a dangle, attached with a fine chain. The chain was missing from the piece when I purchased it at an estate sale, and I have replaced it with one chain (about 5" long), whereas it may have originally had two, in order to function as a chatelaine. The smaller pin has a vertical fastener, rather than the horizontal ones frequently seen. All of the rhinestones sparkle brightly. I have researched the patents in in both Costume Jewelry 202 jewelry patents.combut did not find this one (although the earrings that go with it were patented in 1949). I also have not found it in any of my other reference books, so I believe it is quite rare.
The large crown measures about 1-1/2" x 7/8" and the smaller 1-1/2" x 3/4" (including the drop). The back of the large crown is signed "Coro" (quite faint, and there is not a copyright symbol). Still, the set looks like it was not used much and is in excellent condition. What a find for a vintage Coro collection!
