This extraordinary necklace, with heavy oyster-shaped drops accented with large pearls, is not something meant for casual wear! Festoon style, each goldtone piece measures 1-1/2 x 1-1/8 inches, and the four pieces in the center are attached to one another. The chain closest to the neck is 18 inches long, and the bib measures 8-1/2 inches long from the top pearl, including the chain tassel. The pearls have some age-related darkening, but are consistent in coloring, so perhaps they were somewhat dark originally. There is some wear on some of the goldtone metal, but about what you would expect on a necklace this old (about 1940). The necklace weighs 130 grams (almost 5 ounces), so you'll know you are wearing it. Quite stunning, and so unusual.
